Everyone at some time in their lives has to deal with disease and illness. It may be something minor or it may be major. It can also be you or a loved one that is stricken, but dealing with sickness and the medical system in the United States happens to everybody at some point in life. When this happens, the first thing that most people generally want to do is to find out exactly what is wrong with them. The next step is to see what the doctors recommend as a treatment protocol. But in many cases, though, this doesn’t happen. This occurs because doctors sometimes can’t, or don’t know how to treat, much less cure you. I know that sounds counter-intuitive, but it’s true nevertheless. Here’s an example. In 1972, President Richard Nixon declared war on cancer. That was almost 50 years ago. Since that time billions and billions of dollars have been spent on this “war” to find a cure for cancer. Have they found one yet? No, they haven’t and cancer is still the number one killer of people in America. This fact is doubly curious because more money has been spent on trying to find a cure than was spent putting a man on the Moon.
This begs another question, is totally relying on and obeying the advice of doctors and hospitals the only way to get and stay healthy? Are there other things that you should be aware of that can help you? Well, the simple answer to that question is yes there is. First of all, though, I want to say that I am not a medical expert. I do not hate doctors nor am I trying to persuade you not to listen to their advice. Quite the contrary. The only thing I want to point out about medical advice is it’s ultimately your decision to either take it or ignore it. Here is a fact that few people aren’t aware of. The Journal of Patient Safety said in a recent article that between 210,000 and 440,000 patients each year who go to the hospital for care suffer some type of preventable harm that contributes to their death. That would make bad medical advice and errors the third-leading cause of death in America.
I have personally ignored and said NO to doctors twice in my life for treatments the doctors wanted to give me that I reasoned were either absurd in one instance and insane in the other. I was better off both physically and mentally for both of those NO decisions and have no regrets.
What about alternatives? Like I said I am not a medical expert but the first thing you every person should be keenly aware of is what you fuel your body with. The better the fuel the healthier you’ll be. Your body is a gift from God, and it was perfectly made. It is self-reliant if fueled properly, and can even heal itself when it is damaged. If I only had a car like that. But these attributes only work if you give your body the proper fuels. The sad truth about this is, that most people don’t. Most people are simply satisfied with eating what most nutritionists consider substandard or junk foods. What I mean by that are foods that don’t really have much nutrition or healthy ingredients in them. Think about it, how nutritious can a burger, fries, and a coke be, that cost you 2 bucks? Or chicken nuggets and a fried pie? The answer is not much. Also, think about this. If that’s what you fuel your body with, you’re not going to stay very healthy or live very long. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Here’s a fact of what can be accomplished if you do fuel your body properly. The Jewish patriarch Abraham, who lived in the Arabian desert over 3000 years ago, lived to be 175 years old. He was never sick a day in his life. He ate simple yet nutritious food, drank clean water, and breathed clean air. Now look at people today. A lot of them eat junk food, drink less than pristine water and breathe polluted air. Maybe this is why we have thousands of children with all types of cancers, blood disorders and other serious medical conditions. Maybe this is why we have thousands of people in their 50s and 60s with heart disease, dementia, Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders. What most people fail to recognize is that most of these illnesses could be drastically reduced or eliminated by just eating properly.
There are scores of websites that have lots of information about this. You can also go to this website and find some help too. On this website, you will find many 19th century and other cookbooks that have some incredibly nutritious recipes that are all but impossible to find elsewhere. The website also carries some well-documented books about our modern healthcare system that contain information that is both astounding and thought provoking to the uninitiated.
