In reading an article by Earl Hutchinson* about Dr. Ben Carson in the August 4th issue of the Blog, something struck me as odd. See the article here http://goo.gl/qrYWG6
It seems to me to be one thing to personally not care for a candidate because of their politics and then write about it, but quite another thing to dismiss them in print because they are not a professional politician. Wait a minute, Ben Carson is unfit because he’s not a professional politician? Wait a minute, those are the guys that the created the train wreck?

Who is Ben Carson? Ben Carson is an accomplished neuro-surgeon and writer who has actively voiced his displeasure with our nation’s political direction. He was first noticed by the media and the public when he made a speech at a national prayer breakfast attended by President Obama, Vice President Biden and members of the media. Watch it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFb6NU1giRA
Dr. Carson’s speech was noteworthy because it focused on the obvious causes of our nation’s decay. His speech at the prayer breakfast was also chock full of common sense solutions to this problem. It was a speech made by an intelligent, thoughtful citizen soldier not a professional politician trying to get money or  re-elected. His speech was something this nation hasn’t seen in many, many years. Why doesn’t Earl Hutchinson see that? The other question here though is why was Dr. Carson’s speech so important?

What seems obvious to me, and I believe many other people, is that the problems we have in this country have been caused because of professional politicians. They never address any real problems. They just promise us more stuff. Think back to the financial meltdown in 2008. That happened because no one in power did anything to stop it. Everyone knew it was going to happen and why it was going to happen but no one did anything about it.

Everyone in the government was culpable for the meltdown. In addition to self serving incompetence, professional politicians have no grounding or perspective on what made America not only the greatest nation on Earth but also the grandest political experiment ever conducted.

Instead of looking for a candidate that might actually understand that fact and want to get our country back Mr. Hutchinson appears to want to trash one of the few people I have heard in a long time that has the spirit and intellect to dig us out of the abyss our leaders have tossed us in.

If Mr. Hutchinson is only happy with professional politicians I’m sure he loves our current president because you would be hard pressed to find a more professional politician than Barack Obama. To be fair there are many people that have nothing good to say about him and regardless of how I feel I am not going to add any more fuel to that fire. There is, however, one thing that President Obama has done that is inexcusable. No one ever talks about this bag of worms but I will.

Barack Obama was elected in 2008 with the slogan “Change We Can Believe In”. After he got elected he immediately set to work to institute those changes and make them reality. What did all this change cost the nation? It has literally all but cost us our sovereignty. Under his leadership our nation has borrowed over 7 trillion dollars. Our debt has more than doubled under this president. The total debt to date, which every one of you reading this owes, is 16 plus trillion dollars and climbing at an exponential rate. That’s a number that is impossible for just about anybody but an astronomer to comprehend. This lack of comprehension is exactly the reason why no one is screaming bloody murder. How big is it you ask? If you could stack those 16 trillion dollar bills one on top of the other it would make a stack of bills approximately 1 million, one hundred and ninety thousand miles tall or 4 times farther from the Earth than the distance the Earth is to the moon. And because of this debt, we are functionally broke. I’m not talking about low on money and all we have to do is wait to pass go and collect our $200, but close the blinds and don’t answer the phone broke.

Here’s some perspective on how bad this really is and why you should be mad. Under the presidency of Benjamin Harrison, the grandson of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, the United States didn’t have any debt at all, what it did have was a budget surplus of $100,000,000.00. Under our current president we have a combined debt of over 16 trillion dollars and additional yearly budget deficits (more debts) exceeding one trillion plus dollars. That, by the way folks, is an amount of money that can never functionally be paid back. And yes it has to be paid back. Don’t think for a minute I’m blaming our current commander in chief for all of this, I’m not, I’m just blaming him for most of it.

Why  has cost us our sovereignty? Because no one pays any attention to us anymore. It’s true. The Russians, the European Union, Iran even our middle eastern ally Israel ignore us and any threats we make. Because we are broke and they know it. We can barely afford to take anybody out for a Big Mac and fries much less threaten action against someone because of some incursion on our national interests. Are we threatening Russia or Syria for any of their incursions? If you haven’t been keeping up the answer is no we aren’t. Is there a solution to this mess? There just might be.

The solution revolves around this fact. We need a citizen soldier in the white house. Citizen soldiers used to be common when our republic was formed. If you were elected to office when our country was young you served your time and when your time was up you went back to civilian life. There was no federal gravy train back then. Who was the greatest President America has ever had? George Washington who was the ultimate citizen soldier. Unfortunately that greatness in political leaders went out the door years ago and the citizen soldier has evolved into the professional politician of today. These professionals get elected then do what they need to do to get re-elected ad infinitum until it’s time to retire on a lifetime pension. They care little about anything but themselves and I say that not to throw barbs but to point out a fact. If that statement weren’t true then why do all the laws enacted by congress and the White House only apply to citizens and not to them? If you are a private citizen and are caught doing insider trading of securities you go to prison. This happened to Martha Stewart. If you are an elected official and you engage on insider trading of securities you not only get to keep all the money but you are exempt from prosecution. What wrong with that? Everything my friend.

We need a man like Ben Carson In the White House. You can learn more about Dr. Carson by going to this web address www.runbenrun.org

And yes, I know about Donald Trump. I just think that of the two, Carson has a better grip on the solutions.
